Price News

"We strive to deliver value ....."

We define value as personal attention to detail, consistently high quality and more service options than are commonly available,
all at reasonable prices.

These qualities require time and money to deliver and our prices must support the effort. We're often the least expensive choice, regardless of price, considering the hidden costs of poor results and possible missed deadlines.

We welcome your inquiries, comments and requests and we'll always work hard to meet your needs.

Sincerely, Mike Borum and the Chromatics staff

About Price Changes:

This information is offered as a courtesy. We dislike making price increases so we work constantly to improve efficiency. We raise prices only when there's no other option.
Prices sometimes decrease, too, but that's frequently overlooked.

Feel free to inquire about custom pricing for special orders. We'll be as flexible as possible!

Copy Slides, negatives  transparencies

Digital scanning has replaced slides, negatives and transparencies for most art copy needs; there's very little demand remaining for film-based copy services.

The cost of providing these nearly-obsolete services has risen dramatically as the volume has dropped. We sincerely regret the price increases.

Photographic  Prints

Matte, Gloss & Luster C-Print prices increased slightly and Metallic print prices have risen moderately. Supergloss pricing increased because Fuji discontinued making 20" wide paper rolls, forcing prints onto wider rolls with more waste.

Cruse Synchron Scans

Nothing else scans art nearly as well as a Cruse Synchron system but the equipment is expensive and scanning art well is time/labor intensive.

After re-evaluating scanner productivity and customer needs, we have added moderately priced, 75dpi and 150dpi scanning resolutions and we had to increase prices on the 300dpi scans to justify the time they require.

Many people will now save money (and file space) by selecting lower scanning resolutions that are more appropriate to their needs and we will get the additional productivity we need to keep this very special service available.

E6 Film Processing

Far fewer photographers use film now so processing volume has dropped dramatically. We cut expenses where possible but must maintain our quality and service standards for our remaining film customers.

With fewer film processing sales, expense per roll of providing these services is rising. Our new prices cover only a portion of the increased costs.

We value your patronage and will continue to provide the high quality you expect.
