"The most
beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is
the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this
emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and
stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

"minimalism" -
Opening Reception September 18, 2008, 6-8 pm

“Art excludes the unnecessary.” ---Carl Andre
MINIMALISM is a showing of photographic interpretations
of this movement by 16 regional artists. Rooted in post
war Western art, Minimalism is most typically associated with American visual arts in
the late 1960’s and early 70’s.
Features often associated with Minimalism, such as
geometric, often cubist forms, equality of parts, neutral surfaces and
industrial materials, are present in the Chromatics’ show, but in a quiet,
subtly creative context.
The public is invited to the opening reception
Thursday evening, September 18, from 6-8 p.m. The show runs through January 9,
2009. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. |
